Prototype study

Two ways
to let it breathe.

Same cabinet, same brass, same controls. The only variable is how the sound gets out of the front. Option one cuts the vents into the panel itself. Option two opens the panel and sets a brass lattice into it.

No prototype has been built in either treatment, so nothing here shows what the amplifier will look like. The frames below are held for photographs of the real thing.

Cut into the panel

Arched slots laser cut straight through the ply front, struck from the same centre as the cabinet arch, so the vents repeat the shape of the cabinet rather than sitting inside it. Two narrow bridges break each run and carry the panel across the opening.

Set into the panel

A circular opening cut through the ply and rebated, with a brass lattice medallion seated into it behind a turned bezel. The lattice picks up the brass of the control plate and puts a second metal element on the face of the cabinet.
